What is ComposiCoat?

A three-layer system that chemically bonds to concrete for exceptional chemical, abrasion, and microbial resistant protection.
With the ComposiCoat Floor Finish system, chemically unstable concreate is replaced by an ultra-stable ceramic-urethane composite, protecting it from chemical and physical erosion. This unique flooring system is also Biologically Impervious meaning it is designed to eliminate microbial habitat and continously prevents microbial invansion and growth.

The Problem

This new technology inhibits attack from water, chlorides, carbonation, biological infection, and sulfates that are the main causes of concrete decay. A LEED 4.2 compliant material, CeramycGuard provides superior performance properties while maintaining ease of application properties.

Concrete is a porous and chemically unstable surface that is highly reactive with multiple chemicals and unstable due to the constant exchange with water and moisture. Traditional coatings like expoxies, urethanes, and paints attempt to control this instability by a non-permanent barrier layer on top of the concrete. These coatings are traditionally organic plastics that are unable to chemically react with the concreate and can only stick or grab onto the surface texture to stay i place. These coatings quickly degrade and peel off due to their weakness when exposed to UV sunlight and the inability to breathe out trapped water vapor. Trapped moisture in the concreate allows for carbonation, and biological growth, leading to corrosion, cracking, spalling, rebar rusting, and eventual concreate failure.

The Solution

The solution is to use a system that combines the best of the inorganic properties of concrete and geopolymers with the best characteristics of organic or polymer coatings. Zirconia’s CeramycGuard is an inorganic ceramic base coat that chemically bonds to the concrete giving a permanent crosslinked base for the system. This base coat is impervious to vapor pressure and cannot delaminate, peel or come off the concrete from moisture movement. It is also harder than the concrete itself, giving durable, long-lasting protection. The top layers over the CeramycGuard add the benefits of organic/plastic coatings, having great resistance to chemicals and abrasive wear. Since they are chemically crosslinked to the inorganic ceramic base coat, they cannot fail from high moisture levels and will not peel as they are not individual layers but a composite of organic and inorganic chemistries.

Part1: CeramycGuard™, the base layer, is an inogranic ceramic polymer that chemically crosslinks into the concrete surface, forming an ultra-durable ceramic composite. Part2: CrossLinker™ VB is a hybrid compatibilizer-primer and vapor barrier which crosslinks the base ceramic composite to Part3: ComposiCoat™ XD topcoat. The urethane topcoat is highly chemical and abrasion resistant, easy to clean with biologically impervious properties. Once cured, all three layers are chemically bonded permanently into the ComposiCoat XD Floor Finish system. This composite flooring system has all the hardness and durability benefits of advanced ceramics and plastics technology, taking advantage of the best characteristics of both organic and inorganic coatings. XD topcoats have a high quality appearance and offer a variety of color options.

The bp Solution

Part1: CeramycGurad™, the base layer, is an inorganic ceramic polymer that chemically cross-links into the concreate surface, froming an ultra-durable ceramic composite. Part2: ComposiCoat™ BP topcoat. The self cross-linking epoxy topcoat is highly chemical and moderately abrasion resistant, easy to clean with biologically imperviour properties.Once cured, the layers are chemically bonded permenntly into the ComposiCoat BP Floor Finish system. This composite flooring system has all the durability benefits of advanced ceramics and plastics technology, taking advantage of the best characteristics of both organic and inorganic coatings and is out highest level of acid resistance.

QuartzSeal™

Zirconia QuartzSeal™ is penetrating, chemically bonded, inorganic sealant that when applied over CeramycGuard™ further inhibits water, chemical pollutants and the “near zero porosity” inorganic glass layer finish helps seal out dust, dirt and protects against stains.  Rising to the surface of QuartzSeal™ is a dense layer of electrostatically charged nano-swords that prevent microbial occupation and create a Biological Impervious*, super clean surface.

QuartzSeal Surface Defense (QSD)™ system restores and enhances high-touch surfaces with a durable polymer enhanced nano ceramic, resulting in a
surface that is better-looking and easier to maintain and clean. The QSD system is comprised of two components, the QSD Base Coat and the antimicrobial
surface protectant Nano-Surface Defense (NSD)™.
We believe that the best biological defense is better surface engineering. As hard and coated surfaces wear, they become porous at the microscopic level.
These pores capture water and debris that degrades the surface and supports unwanted microbial life. The QSD Base Coat chemically bonds to old coatings
as well as the surface, eliminating porosity and giving the surface a new look and a soft, smooth feel. QSD provides complete and continuous protection
against microbes that can harm the surface. QSD also has a non-stick (hydrophobic) additive that provides superior cleanability. It is ideal for all kinds of touch
surfaces, including wood, metal, paint, plastic, rubber, tile, glass and many others.

Finally, NSD is an antimicrobial nano-sword technology that, in combination with the QSD Base Coat, provides a durable, refreshable treatment that protects the surface from stain- and odor-causing bacterial growth, mold, and mildew in between regular cleanings. The QSD base coat provides a reactive base for the NSD, Nano-Surface Defense that provides a longer-lasting antimicrobial action compared to any other nano-swords on the market. In combination, this coating creates a “biologically impervious” barrier defense that discourages surface occupation and survival of microbial life 24-7. The QSD system provides a surface that is 99.9% cleaner and can be cleaned less often, reducing costs and exposure to harsh chemicals. The Nano Surface Defense also meets FDA approval for food contact surfaces*. QuartzSeal Surface Defense system offers superior wear performance.
